December 31, 2003 - The Dawson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a criminal mischief that occurred between December 5th through December 8th near Roads 765 & 431 northwest of Lexington. Suspects broke out the front and side windows of a county road grader. Approximate damage is $600.00 dollars.

December 24, 2003 - The Dawson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a burglary that occurred the night of December 6th, 2003 at Mid-States Irrigation near Gothenburg. Suspects entered the building by prying open a door. Suspects stole approximately $10,000 dollars worth of Snap-On tools and a red Snap-On toolbox. Suspects also took 4 Polaris ATV's and 2 lift straps.

December 16, 2003 - The Lexington Police Department is investigating a burglary. Sometime during the hours of darkness on November 20th and 21st, person(s) unknown cut the hasps on 23 storage units located at John's Storage, 103 South Adams, in Lexington. The hasps were cut which allowed removal of padlocks, units were entered and as yet an undetermined amount of property was taken from these units.

December 10, 2003 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a burglary of a residence in the 1500 Block of Avenue D the night of November 1st 2003. Suspects entered the garage and stole a Sears Craftsman tool set, a cordless drill, a saw, a light, 2 drill bit sets, a Black & Decker Skill Saw, all of which had the owners first initial and last name on them. Approximate value of loss is $345.00 dollars.

December 3, 2003 - The Dawson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a felony criminal mischief that occurred the night of November 15th 2003. At approximately 9:30 PM suspects shot a fiber optic box located on road 425 just north of road 770. An older model dark colored vehicle was observed in the area prior to the box going offline. Approximate value of damage is $30,000 dollars.

November 26, 2003 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a residential burglary that occurred the evening of November 17th in the 600 block of East 6th. Suspects broke the back door and took several household items. Approximate value of loss is $1,000.00 dollars.

November 19, 2003 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a series of car stereo thefts and residential burglaries. Officers have several leads in the case and are pursuing those as they come in. Residents can help by reporting any suspicious activity, leaving outside yard lights on at night, and by making sure cars are locked at night and keep track of car stereo make, model, and serial numbers.

November 12, 2003 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a theft of a large concrete eagle lawn ornament from a residence in the 600 block of East 8th Street. The eagle has its wings spread and its head turned to the left. The eagle is painted brown with a white neck and yellow beak and is perched on a gray rock. The owner will ask no questions if it is returned. Approximate value of loss is $60.00 dollars.

November 5, 2003 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a vandalism and theft of parts from a vehicle that was parked in the 600 block of Meridian at the former Cozad Corner Service lot. It is unknown when the incident occurred. Approximate value of loss and damages is $350.00 dollars.

October 29, 2003 - The Dawson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a vandalism to 2 vehicles that occurred the night of October 4th 2003. Suspects used a potato gun to shoot a beer bottle through both windows on one pickup which then hit and broke a window on another pickup parked at a farmstead near roads 414 & 758 SW of Cozad. Approximate damage to both vehicles is $555.00 dollars.

October 22, 2003 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating vandalism to a Red Jeep Cherokee that was parked at the Platte Valley Auto Mart lot on south Highway 21 the night of September 25th, 2003. Subject(s) smashed a window and stole
the stereo out of the vehicle causing damage to the left front and rear doors as well. Approximate damage to vehicle is $2,000 dollars.

October 8, 2003 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating several car stereo thefts that have occurred in the past several weeks. The thefts may or may not have been done by the same person(s). Officers have several suspects and are working on numerous leads. Citizens can help curb these thefts by making sure cars are locked at night and parked in well-lit areas and by keeping track of model and serial numbers of add on car stereo equipment.

September 30, 2003 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating four separate incidents involving slashed tires. It is believed the suspects were on foot while committing the crimes and that all the incidents are related. All four incidents occurred the night of September 21, 2003 between the hours of 3AM and 8AM in the Northeast area of town.

September 24, 2003 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a theft from a garage in the 300 block of A Street. Person(s) took a Husqvarna chainsaw, a WEEDEATER brand weed eater, a Miller brand wire fed welder, and a red tool chest full of various tools. Estimated value of loss is $1,045.00.

September 17, 2003 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a theft of 4 Pomeranian puppies from a kennel located in the 1100 block of H Street. The puppies are approximately 3 weeks old and have not been weaned from their mother. 1 puppy is black and the other 3 are brown in color.

September 10, 2003 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a vandalism that occurred this summer. Suspects painted graffiti on 2 Agriliance storage tanks on South Locust Street. Estimated amount of damage is unknown at this time.

September 1, 2003 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a theft that occurred on the night of July 14th 2003. Suspects took 2 window air conditioners from the porch of a residence at 201 West 11th. One of the units is an Amana brand. Approximate value of the loss is $300.

August 25, 2003 - The Lexington Police department is investigating the break in of a storage unit at U STORE IT, 801 West 7th. Numerous antiques and collectibles were taken including: 1 Pot Belly Stove, 2 small cast iron black utility stoves, 3 full sized well hand pumps, 10 Royal Copenhagen Christmas Plates, 10 Pcs. cast iron cookware, several "Flapper" dresses, numerous antique dolls, miscellaneous toys, and many other items too numerous to mention. Value of loss is estimated at $8,800.00.

August 20, 2003 - The Dawson County Sheriff's Department is investigating the assault of a Cozad man on the night of
August 9th, 2003 on Interstate 80 between Gothenburg and Cozad. Suspects were 3 white males all possibly had facial hair and cowboy boots. Suspects were driving a late 90's Dodge Ram pickup that was dark in color, no tailgate, a roll bar, and had Ram tail light covers. Vehicle also had 18 County plates unknown if Farm or Commercial. Victim was transported to Kearney Hospital with a possible skull fracture. Suspects also took $60.00 from victim's wallet.

August 6, 2003 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred the night of August 7th, 2003 at Illusion's Bar. Suspect(s) broke a front window to the business and took two red bank bags with an undetermined amount of money.

August 4, 2003 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a vandalism that occurred at Cozad Child Care at 1208 East 9th Street, between July 11th & July 13th 2003. Subject(s) broke out a window with a water balloon. Approximate value of damages is $280.00.

July 29, 2003 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating 2 separate break-ins at the Cozad Swimming Pool that occurred on July 7th & July 16th, 2003. Subjects took a small amount of cash and did little or no damage.

July 22, 2003 - The Gothenburg Police Department is investigating a burglary of a storage wharehouse in the 800 block of East 8th Street that occurred on July 11th, 2003. Subjects stole over 50 new semi-truck tires with a value of over $18,000. Evidence at the scene indicates that a cube type RYDER or UHAUL type truck was used to haul the tires away.

July 15, 2003 - The Dawson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a criminal mischief incident that occurred in rural Farnam the first week of May, 2003. Subjects opened a fuel tank and drained approximately 3000 gallons of diesel fuel onto the ground. Estimated value of the loss is $3,200.00.

July 8, 2003 - The Dawson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a burglary at the Lakeside Marina Boat Shop #9 Lakeview Acres, Johnson Lake which occurred around June 6th 2003. Suspects gained entry by breaking the north side window. Items taken were 4 MEGATRON brand batteries and $300-400 dollars cash. Also damage was done to the cash register and shelving.

July 1, 2003 - The Dawson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a theft from a residence in the Plum Creek Canyon area of Johnson Lake, which occurred between May 14th and May 17th, 2003. Suspects removed a SoftTub brand 4 person Hot Tub that is red in color. Approximate value of the loss is $2,500.00.

June 24, 2003 - The Dawson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a burglary of a rural Gothenburg residence on or about May 10th, 2003. No forced entry was gained and subject(s) took an unknown model Hewlett Packard computer, a Hewlett Packard Printer Model #812C, and a Document Work Centre Copy Machine Model #XE80. Estimated value of loss is $2,500.00.

June 17, 2003 - The Lexington Police Department is investigating a check forgery that occurred at Sav A Lot in Lexington on April 3rd, 2003. A white male in his early 30's cashed a fake check from Cozad Community Hospital. The check was signed by someone who has never worked at the hospital. Value of loss is $386.72.

June 10, 2003 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a burglary of a building on Johansen Drive that occurred between April 25 and May 13, 2003. Items taken include 2 DeWalt Cordless Drills, 1 green tool kit box, 1 set of heavy-duty jumper cables, and 1 toolbox containing miscellaneous tools. Approximate value of loss is $1,116.00.

May 26, 2003 - The Lexington Police Department is investigating an attempted burglary at the Dawson County Museum between April 19-21, 2003. The northeast window had damage to the screen and frame. A window screen on the north side had been broke and the frame was broken. The lower window appeared to have been shot. No entry was made to the building. Approximate value of damage is $150.00.

May 26, 2003 - The Dawson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a burglary which occurred between May 19-21, 2003. Unknown person(s) entered a garage Northwest of Lexington and removed a weightlifting bench, weights, a weight bar, and several black ammo boxes.

May 19, 2003 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a vandalism to a vehicle which occurred between 11PM-7AM on the night of March 7th in the Monroe's parking lot. A blue 1997 Ford Explorer was scratched on the driver's side. Approximate value of damage was $2,300.00.

May 12, 2003 - The Lexington Police Department is investigating a burglary of the Lexington Public Library on April 20th, 2003. Glass to a door was broken out and 3 DELL Latitude Computers valued at $2,200.00 each were taken.

April 28, 2003 - CORRECTION The Dawson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a vandalism to the District 100R school not District 81R north of Gothenburg that occurred on or about April 13, 2003. Unknown persons broke out 8 windows and threw a red trash can into the 2 west windows. Estimated damage to the school is $1,200.

April 28, 2003 - The Dawson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a vandalism to the District 81R school north of Gothenburg that occurred on or about April 13, 2003. Unknown persons broke out 8 windows and threw a red trash can into the 2 west windows. Estimated damage to the school is $1,200.

April 21, 2003 - The Dawson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a break-in at Lakeshore Marina, Johnson Lake.  Subjects gained entry through a door on the south side of  the business. Once inside 5 cases of beer, several cartons of cigarettes, 1 bottle of Cartain Tequila, and $500 dollars cash in ones & fives were taken.

April 14, 2003 - The Dawson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a theft of a GO-VISION DVD Player Model #16-3255 Serial Number A021003544 from the Radio Shack store in downtown Lexington. Value of the item is $300.00.

April 7, 2003 - The Dawson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a theft of 6 dozen goose and duck decoys, 2 decoy boats, 1 propane heater, and 1 propane stove. All decoys were marked with the name Davis in permanent marker on the bottom. These items were taken from a duck blind on the Platte River east of Cozad. Approximate value of items is $975 Dollars.

March 31, 2003 - The Dawson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a burglary at North East Cove at Johnson Lake. An unknown person or persons entered a garage between March 23rd and March 24th and removed a Dewalt power saw Model DW708. Estimated value $600.

March 24, 2003 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a burglary at Zook's Welding on 320 East 5th Street. It appeared there was no forced entry. Taken was cash, 20 pairs of vise grips, 12 small gas cylinders, and one 20 pound CO2 bottle. Estimated loss $1000.

March 17, 2003 - The Lexington Police Department is requesting your help. On February 26th Tom's Midwest Liquor had a fail to pay $25 fuel bill. On March 12th Max Short Stop also had a fail to pay $27 fuel bill. The suspect vehicle in both incidents is a mid 80's burgundy Buick or Oldsmobile possibly Park Ave with oxidized paint. Suspect is a white female mid 20's medium build, reddish blonde hair in ponytail, possibly accompanied by a young child.

March 10, 2003 - The Cozad Police Department obtained a search warrant for the residence at 202 A Street. Officers recovered a partial methamphetamine lab. If anyone has any information about who was involved in making methamphetamines at this resident please call.

March 3, 2003 - If anyone has any information on subjects in Dawson County using, possessing, manufacturing or distributing any controlled drugs, please contact your Dawson County Crime Stoppers.

February 24, 2003 - The Cozad Police Department has received some information and is searching for additional information regarding the suspects involved in the burglaries in Cozad.

February 17, 2003 - The Gothenburg Police Department is investigating a criminal mischief and theft case. Sometime between 6:00 p.m. February 8th and 12:00 p.m. February 9th, someone drove into the bay at the Car Wash at 600 Lake Avenue and used a drill to break into the coin machines. An undetermined amount of cash was taken.

February 10, 2003 - The Dawson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a criminal mischief case. During the early morning hours of December 24, 2002 in the area of Road 428 and Road 770 someone damaged approximately 10 road signs and posts. Estimated damage $1238.

January 27, 2003 - Cozad Police Department is investigating a burglary, which occurred at Drive Inn Videos sometime between the evening hours of January 19th, and early morning hours of January 20th. Someone broke the window and entry was gained into business. Taken: a GE DVD player, Sanyo VCR, Bose Speakers, DVD Carrying Case, remote controls, cash and checks. Estimated damage and loss $3000.

January 13, 2003 - Sometime between January 1st and January 5th, 2003 an unknown person or persons caused damage to the plastic tarp that covers the greenhouse at Cozad Floral and Nursery. A sharp object was possibly used to cause the damage. Estimated amount of damage is $3600.00.

January 6, 2003 - The Dawson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a burglary, which occurred in the 400 block of 9th Street in Overton on December 17th. Items taken consisted of several pieces of antique jewelry and assorted collectable coins.
