December 16, 2002 - The Cozad Police Department needs your help in solving several thefts and vandalisms that occurred on the night of December 7, 2002. Several residents reported thefts of Christmas decorations from their yards. There was also a report of cords to decorations being cut. Total loss is over $120.00.

December 2, 2002 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a Burglary, which occurred sometime between the evening of October 31st and morning of November 1st at Sonny Food Store. Someone entered the business and taken was cigarettes and money.

November 24, 2002 - The Cozad Police Department needs your help in solving a burglary. On the evening of November 15, 2002, a person or persons broke into a residence on the 600 block of A Street and stole a Philips Stereo CD Player and a Sanyo Television. These items are valued at over $800.00.

November 11, 2002 - The Dawson County Sheriff's Office has received numerous reports of stolen firearms from homes and vehicles.  Mostly long guns have been taken however there have been a few handguns that have been taken. If anyone has any information or suspicions please call.

November 4, 2002 - Sometime between the hours of 6:00 PM Friday, September 27th and 3:30 AM Saturday, September 28th, an unknown person or persons broke the window out of a door at the Corner Clothes Hanger located at 1001 Lake Avenue in Gothenburg and entered the business. Once inside the person or persons stole several items of clothing.

October 21, 2002 - Dawson County Crime Stoppers has agreed to pay out $800.00 in crime tips in the month of October. These crimes include Game and Parks Violations, Arson, and Criminal Mischief. We have appreciated all the support and tips we have received in assisting the Law Enforcement in solving crime.

October 14, 2002 - The Cozad Police Department needs your help in solving a vandalism. On Friday, October 4th, between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. someone broke out the back window of a white 1999 Chevrolet Malibu while it was parked in the Monroe parking lot. Estimated damage is over $350.00.

October 7, 2002 - The Cozad Police Department needs your help solving vandalisms. There have been numerous thefts from vehicles in the city limits of Cozad in the past couple of weeks. Items being taken are cell phones and stereo equipment. Estimated theft amount of each vehicle is over $250.00.

September 30, 2002 - The Lexington Police Department is trying to solve a case in which a white male subject is using counterfeit checks at a business in Lexington. Suspect is 6'0", weighs 180 lbs, has blue eyes and brown hair. Possible lives in Arvada, Co.
Same subject is believed to have committed the same offense last March.

September 15,  2002 - The Gothenburg Police Department needs your help solving a vandalism. On September 8, 2002, 2 male subjects broke out a glass door at a Motel/Hotel Housing Complex. The subjects then fled on mountain style bikes. Approximate damage to the door was $500 dollars.

September 9, 2002 - The Cozad Police Department needs your help solving vandalisms. There has been numerous vehicles being keyed and scratched with what appears to be a sharp object in the city limits of Cozad. The estimated damage of all these vehicles in approximately $1000 per vehicle.

August 26, 2002 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a vandalism to a Maroon 1997 Nissan Ultima 4-door on August 18th or 19th. Someone had keyed both sides, roof, trunk and hood of vehicle. This incident occurred in the 700 block of Locust Street causing an estimated $1800 damage.

August 19, 2002 - The Dawson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a felony theft from Husker Ag in Lexington. Subjects cut chains and removed one John Deere riding lawn mower and one walk behind John Deere lawn mower.

August 12, 2002 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a theft from a garage in the 500 block West 11th Street. Someone entered a garage and a MVP two ton jack and two jack stands were taken. Estimated loss $70.

August 5, 2002 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a burglary on the 400 block Johansen Drive. Person or persons unknown cut the padlocks off of six
storage units. Numerous items were taken from the storage units.

July 29, 2002 - The Cozad Police Department would like your help they are investigating a theft of a 5'x 8' utility trailer from in front of a building at A & 3rd Street . The trailer is black gloss and was last seen July 25th. Trailer is valued at $500.

July 22, 2002 - The Cozad Police Department are investigating a theft that occurred between May 21st and May 28th. Someone stole a bicycle from a front yard of residence on the 1100 Block of E Street. The bike is a 24" 12 speed and is dark brown with some tan color on it.

July 15, 2002 - The Gothenburg Police Department is investigating a theft that occurred between June 1st at 9:30 p.m. and June 2nd at 10:30 a.m. Unknown suspects entered a purple colored vehicle on I Street. The suspects then stole approximately $3000 worth of belongings. Items outstanding are two shirts, a cell phone and two pairs of size 14 shoes.

July 8, 2002 - Lexington Police Department is investigating vandalisms that occurred evening hours of July 2nd or early morning hours of July 3rd. Windows were broken out of a vehicle parked at 911 North Adams, front window panes broken out of Casey's Store at 903 North Adams, and eight windows broke out of a camper topper located 704 West 10th Street.

July 1, 2002 - Cozad Police Department is investigating a burglary which occurred at residence at Meridian Laundromat on April 21st.  Unknown person entered the Laundromat and gained entrance to the residence that is attached by using a pry instrument of some sort.  Someone also attempted to pry open the change machine.

June 22, 2002 - If someone has lost or had stolen a diamond setting engagement and wedding ring contact Sgt. Paul Schwarz at the Dawson County Sheriff's Office to identify and possibly claim.

June 17, 2002 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a vandalism to the restrooms at Central Park. On May 30th unknown subjects entered the restrooms and broke and destroyed the paper towel holders. These restrooms have been vandalized several times in the past month. Estimated damage $300.

June 11, 2002 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a theft of a mower that occurred the evening hours of May 23rd or early morning hours of May 24th. Someone entered the alley on Potter Street and stole an Airens push mower. The mower is valued at $700.

June 4, 2002 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a theft which occurred the evening of May 25th in the downtown area. Someone stole 2 sets of golf clubs out of the back end of a pickup. One set was a right-handed clubs and the other set was left-handed clubs. The clubs were in a red, white and blue golf bag.

May 27, 2002 - The Gothenburg Police Department is investigating a vandalism which occurred between May 14th and May 16th. Someone scratched profanity on the rear hatch back door of a vehicle along with a scratch that was approximately 5 feet long. The estimated damage to vehicle was $494.

May 20, 2002 - The Gothenburg Police Department is investigating an attempted business burglary at 114 6th Street. Someone attempted to break into the business between May 12th and May 13th with possibly a shovel doing damage to the back door. It appeared no entry was gained.

May 13, 2002 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a residential burglary in the 1100 block J Street where someone broke into the garage between midnight and 9:30 a.m. on May 5th. Taken were numerous tools, some having the number 7 or LB on them. Also taken was fishing equipment. There is an estimated loss of $8000.

April 29, 2002 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a hit and run accident on April 7th where a vehicle ran a stop sign causing an accident. Subject described as a Hispanic male exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Subject possibly has head injury.

April 20, 2002 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a hit and run accident involving a headstone at the Cozad Cemetary. The day and time of the accident is unknown. Estimated damage to the headstone is $250.00.

April 15, 2002 - The Dawson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a residential burglary that occurred between March 31st and April 3rd at Johnson Lake. Entry was gained through a back window of the garage. Several antique items were taken. Estimated loss $1,148.

April 8, 2002 - The Dawson County Sheriff's Office is investigating vandalism to a John Deere 4430 farm tractor. This incident happened sometime between March 29th and April 1st just north of Hi-Gain Feedlot in a field. Someone broke the left and rear windows out causing $600 damage.

April 1, 2002 - The Nebraska Game and Parks is investigating an incident occurring on March 31st between the hours of 10:15 and 11:15. Suspect parked their vehicle near Paulsen sandpit south and east of Cozad. They went under the Interstate to Matt Jochem's sandpit and shot numerous times, killing and crippling approximately 80 geese and ducks. Suspects left the area leaving the birds behind.

March 25, 2002 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a theft that occurred from a vehicle on March 18, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. that was parked on the East side of Cozad High School. An unknown person entered the locked vehicle and took a silver Kenwood Amplifier valued at $320.00.

March 18, 2002 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a residential burglary, which occurred on March 15th on Maple Street. A residence was entered through a window and taken were several guns. A Browning 3006 semi automatic, a Frenchie 12 gauge, a Maverick 12 gauge, 2 Remington 22 Pumps made in the 1800's, a 30x30 Savage Bolt action, a 20 gauge single shot made in Brazil, and a Savage 22 semi automatic.

March 11, 2002 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating several burglaries to The Feed Store. These burglaries started in February and continued into March. Please call if you have seen anyone in this area in the evenings after business hours.

March 4, 2002 - The Lexington Police Department is investigating a theft from Platte Valley Auto Mart. Someone over the weekend of February 22nd through the 24th stole a six-foot black fiberglass gorilla off the roof of the business. This item was screwed, and tied down by cable. This theft is believed to be associated with another theft of a vehicle and a burglary of the same property also occurring over the same time frame.

February 19, 2002 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a theft from Cozad Services where someone is entering into a shop and taking several different types of tools over a period of several days. The tools should have a lime-green spray paint mark on them as an identifier.

February 11, 2002 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a burglary which occurred during the weekend of February 10th.   Someone broke into a warehouse belonging to The Feed Store on West Railroad Street in Cozad. Someone took a 4-wheeler out of the building and drove it and then parked it behind the building. Estimated $50 damage to building.

February 4, 2002 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a hit & run accident which occurred on Feb 01, 2002. A full size pickup with large aggressive type tires drove up onto the property of Valley Vending and struck a flatbed trailer and caused severe damage to a fence and several other objects. The pickup may be bluish green in color. Estimated damages are unknown at this time.

January 28, 2002 - The Lexington Police Department  is investigating a burglary which occurred sometime after August 2001 in the 1600 block North Erie. Someone broke into a residence and stole a crystal chandelier, white gold engagement ring, princess cut diamond,  that may possibly have "Lucille" engraved inside the band. Also taken was a white gold wedding band, with 7 round diamonds on it, a Mossberg 20 g. pump shotgun, wood stock and a Carbine 30-30 rifle w/leather sling.  Estimated damage and loss is over $7200.

January 21, 2002 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a burglary which occurred December 2, 2001. In the 100 block of East 12th Street someone broke into a garage and broke out the window to the vehicle in the garage, and stole the CD player that was in the vehicle. Estimated damage and loss is over $1000.

January 14, 2002 - If anyone has any drug or gang related crimes that they are aware of, notify the Dawson County Crime Stoppers, Dawson County Sheriff's Office, Cozad Police Department or the Gothenburg Police Department. This can include, however not limited to selling, dealing, transporting, or using of drugs.

January 7, 2002  - The Cozad Police Department is investigating several vandalisms to vehicles which occurred between December 23rd and 24th. Tires were slashed and a hole was punched through the metal on one of the vehicles left rear quarter panel. An estimated $1000 damage was done to these vehicles.
