December 24, 2001 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a theft, which occurred December 23rd. Taken from a vehicle that was parked behind the U-Wash was a Winchester .243 rifle with a Simmons white tale classic scope, a Harris bi-pod, and a Benelli Nova Model 12 gauge shotgun. The estimated loss is over $1,000.
December 17, 2001 - The Lexington Police Department is investigating a burglary, which occurred December 8th at the Water Cannon Car Wash. The metal door was pried open and unknown person(s) used the keys to open the change machine. The aluminum box that holds quarters was removed. The keys were also taken. Estimated loss $1,200.
December 10, 2001 - The Dawson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a burglary, which occurred between December 2nd and December 5th in Overton. Someone entered a shop by kicking the door. Taken was a red Napa toolbox with wheels under it. The contents in the toolbox include assorted hand tools, power tools, paint tools, and air tools. Estimate loss $3,000.
December 3, 2001 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred sometime between November 17 and 18. Persons gained entry to Pump and Pantry by shattering the front door and taking undisclosed items, while causing $1,000 to the business.

November 19, 2001 - The Gothenburg Police Department is investigating an incident that occurred late November 3rd in the 2200 block of Avenue L. Unknown person(s) placed a dead skunk into a 2000 Nissan Sentra. The skunk odor permeated the entire interior of the vehicle.
November 12, 2001 - The Lexington Police Department is investigating a burglary of a residence occurring between September 29 and October 1, in the 400 block of South Adams Street. Several items were taken including a washer and dryer, a television and CD player with an estimated loss of $2000.

October 22, 2001 - The Gothenburg Police Department is investigating a theft that occurred on the night of September 3rd. someone stole a new blue/white boy's mountain bike and left it on the railroad tracks where a train ran over the bike, totally destroying it.
October 15, 2001 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a theft that occurred on Aug. 9. Tools were taken from a vehicle in the 1400 block of D Street. Damage also occurred to the vehicle.
October 8, 2001 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred between Aug. 11 and Aug. 13. A workshop in the 500 block of east 6th Street was entered and a coil roofing nailer with the initials "LK" on the cylinder, a narrow crown stapler and a Fisher Price stereo were taken.

September 29, 2001 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a theft that occurred between August 6th and 7th. Someone entered the boiler room at the Cozad Community Hospital and stole a complete Dell computer system. The system was new and still in the boxes. Estimated loss is $1,500.
September 24, 2001 - The Dawson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a theft that occurred between Aug. 31 and Sept. 2. Someone stole a blue air compressor mounted on a wheelbarrow-type frame. The compressor had a red air hose, 5 HP motor, two 5 gallon tanks and red/white lettering. Estimated loss $850.
September 17, 2001 - The Gothenburg Police Department is investigating a theft that occurred on the night of September 3rd. someone stole a new blue/white boy's mountain bike and left it on the railroad tracks where a train ran over the bike, totally destroying it.
September 3, 2001 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a vandalism that occurred at Cozad Floral and Nursery. On the night of Sept. 1, someone caused severe damage by tearing the skins on a green house and dumping fertilizer throughout the area. Estimated damages are $3,000.

August 6, 2001 - The Gothenburg Police Department is investigating a theft that occurred some time between the afternoon of July 13 and the evening of July 15. An electric meter was stolen from a trailer home in the 500 block of 5th Street.
July 9, 2001 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating an attempted burglary at Central School during the evening hours of June 25 or the early morning hours of June 26. Someone kicked in a door on the south side of the garage causing $250 damage.
June 25, 2001 - Gothenburg Police Department is investigating a bomb threat. During the early morning hours of May 24, 2001 an unknown person called Baldwin Filters and indicated there was a bomb in the plant. This call caused an evacuation of the plant and a disruption of the operation of the plant of approximately 24 hours.
June 18, 2001 - The Gothenburg Police Department is investigating a vandalism that occurred in the early morning hours of May 26. A 1996 Chevy S-10 Pickup parked in the 2500 block of Lake Avenue was keyed on the left door, right rear quarter panel, and tailgate. Sugar was also added to the gas tank.
June 4, 2001 - The Lexington Police Department is investigating a vandalism that occurred between May 25 and May 29. Someone shot holes in four windows in a business located in the 1200 block of North Adams Street, causing extensive damage.

May 27, 2001 - Dawson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a theft from Cozad Country Club. Taken were numberous golf clubs to include drivers made by Callaway, Titleist, Cobra, Taylor; woods made by Adams Tight Lies and Callaway. Estimated loss $1800.
May 7, 2001 - Dawson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a theft of a John Deere Combine. Between May 5th and May 7th someone stole the combine from a Quonset three miles West of Lexington and put it in the ditch. Estimated loss $3700. The suspect vehicle is an '85 or '86 Chevy Pickup with a faded brown cab and a black flat bed on the back.

April 23, 2001 - The Gothenburg Police Department is investigating a burglary at I-80 Texaco Plaza which occurred between 10:30 p.m. April 29 and 6:30 a.m. April 30. Entry was gained by prying open the back door. The cash box was cut out of the ATM machinge and the money was taken. Estimated loss over $2000.
April 16, 2001 - The Lexington Police Department is investigating a criminal mischief which occurred April 4 at the 300 block of Cedar Street. Someone shattered the back window of a Blue Ford Windstar with possibly a BB gun. Estimated damage $700.
April 2, 2001 - The Dawson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a burglary which occurred sometime in February. Subjects had entered a rural residence north and east of Lexington. Taken was a water heater, washer, dryer, air compressor, bed frame and portable dishwasher.

March 20, 2001 - The Dawson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a criminal mischief which occurred between March 16th and March 17th. Someone damaged two mailboxes, clay flower pot and a White Bass Bay sign at Bass Bay at Johnson Lake.
March 12, 2001 - The Gothenburg Police Department is investigating criminal mischief which occurred between March 4th and March 7th. Person or persons unknown threw chunks of concrete at four different parked vehicles. Three of the vehicles were parked south of the tracks. Estimated damage $850.
March 7, 2001 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a hit and run accident which occurred on March 3rd at Muny Park. Someone used a vehicle and caused an estimated $2500 damage to fence and trash dumpster. Suspect vehicle is a black flatbed or possibly a short box pickup with a lift kit and loud muffler.

February 28, 2001 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a hit and run accident which occurred on January 14th at the O Street crossing. A semi loaded with a backhoe or loader was crossing the railroad tracks when the south crossarm came down on the backhoe and broke off.
February 21, 2001 - The Dawson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a theft from a building in rural Cozad between January 1st and January 8th. Thaken was a DeWalt cordless drill, DeWalt power grinder, Milwaukee hammer drill, Star concrete gun, and a Leitz level. Estimate loss is $1400.
February 14, 2001 - The Dawson County sheriff's Office is investigating a residential burglary in the area of roads 760 and 426. Between December 29th and January 3rd, subjects entered residence and took approximately $5000 worth of tools and construction equipment, to include air compressors and propane heaters.

January 31, 2001 - The Cozad Police Department is investigating a theft that occurred at Kildare Lumber between January 15th and January 17th. Someone stole a Stanley Bostitch RN45B Ridge Runner Nail Gun valued at $439.00
January 24, 2001 - Gothenburg Police Department is investigating a vandalism which occurred between January 1st and January 13th at 1500 Lake Avenue. Two trees in Ehman park have been driven over, causing an estimated loss of $400.
January 17, 2001 - Dawson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a burglary to a rural residence in the area of Road 758 and 430, January 5th. Someone forced entry and items taken were a 12 gauge Browning pump and a 30-30 Marlin rifle, ammo, old silver dollars, old 2 dollar bills, baby ring and a bottle of change. Estimated theft $1000
January 10, 2001 - Dawson County Sheriff's Office is investigating vandalism in the Overton area. There were 21 mailboxes damaged, two stop signs ran over, and some windows broke out at District 15 School. The suspect vehicle is a white older model Cutlass Supreme.
January 2, 2001 - Gothenburg Police Department is investigating burglaries occurring at 915 Lake Ave. at Ben Franklin Store on two different occasions in December. In one incident someone tried to break the lock on the back door of the business. In the second incident a screen door in the back of the building had been pried open. No entry was gained.
